Greetings: The Washington, D.C. Chapter of Concerned Black Men, Inc.® {CBM-DC} would be honored to have the students of your school or organization participate in our 29th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratory Contest (no limitation on the number of student participants). This contest is one of the initial programs offered by CBM-DC. It allows students to present their views on a selected topic. We are extremely pleased that this program – through the efforts of many dedicated positive role models and schools in Washington, DC and the Washington Metropolitan Area – continues to provide support for students to enhance their written and oratorical skills. The topic this year, "Rap/Hip-Hop Does It Uplift Youth or Bring Them Down".
The contest is open to 7th through 12th grade students in the Washington metropolitan area. General prizes will be given to all contestants at the end of the Contest. Cash prizes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners at the CBM-DC Annual Youth Recognition Awards Banquet to be held on a Saturday, June 5th, 2010.
